2. Protection
Before we start the Poly B removal process, we want to protect your home from any potential construction damage. We ask that you remove as much furniture and personal belongings out of the work areas as possible. At that point, Poly B Plumbing Guys will take the necessary measures to protect your floors and remaining furniture to minimize potential damage while your home is under construction.
3. Dust Control
We know how important it is to keep your home clean and comfortable during your poly b replacement. That’s why we go the extra mile to reduce dust every step of the way. We protect your floors with durable coverings, seal off work areas with poly barriers, and use HEPA filter vacuums along with dust-reducing cutting tools. Our goal is to keep the dust contained, protect your home, and give you peace of mind while we work.
4. Removing Existing Poly B Plumbing and Drywall
Our Red Seal certified plumbing technicians take pride in providing a professional and worry-free experience when replacing your home’s Poly-B piping. We carefully remove the old piping and install industry-leading pipes and fittings that meet the highest standards of the National Plumbing Code of Canada. To make the process simple for you, we handle all necessary permit applications and inspection requests. When cutting access holes, we do so with the next steps in mind, ensuring the best possible opportunity for a seamless, blemish-free finish once the work is complete.
5. New Drywall and Paint Installation
After your old Poly B pipes are replaced, we’ll make sure your walls and ceilings are put back together beautifully. Our team handles new drywall patches, smooths everything out, and blends ceiling texture where needed. To complete the job, we colour-match your existing paint and apply primer along with two coats of premium latex paint. Many of our clients also choose to repaint entire walls for a crisp, seamless look, and we’re happy to provide that service too. The result? A clean, polished space that looks as though the pipes were never touched. In fact, many of our reviewers say they can’t even tell we were there.
Why Poly B Replacement Matters
Polybutylene, commonly referred to as Poly B, is a plastic piping material extensively employed in residential plumbing systems from the 1970s to the 1990s. Initially considered a budget-friendly substitute for copper, it has later demonstrated a susceptibility to failures, particularly in regions with elevated water pressure or chlorine content.
Emphasizing the necessity of replacing Polybutylene pipes is crucial, given the potential for substantial water damage and the risk of mold growth within homes. Poly B pipes have the potential to rupture, resulting in extensive water damage, or they may develop subtle pinhole leaks and micro-fissures that often go undetected, promoting mold growth behind your home’s walls and ceilings. The resultant water damage can entail expensive repairs, prompting insurance companies to re-evaluate coverage for properties still equipped with Poly B plumbing.
Poly B Plumbing Guys are your go-to experts for Poly B removal services. Our specialized solutions enable homeowners to swap out their Poly B pipes with superior, long-lasting alternatives. Thus, removing Poly B plumbing from your system is a proactive step that safeguards your home against water damage, minimizes the likelihood of plumbing problems, and enhances your property’s overall value. So don’t delay; contact us to arrange your Poly B replacement in Red Deer today!
What our customers say about us

To each and every one of you — thank you so much!

From start to finish, the team at Poly B was absolutely outstanding. They handled the full scope of the work, including cutting into our walls and ceilings to access the old pipes. Most impressively, they repaired and repainted everything so well that you can’t even tell they were here.
Their professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and quality of work gave us peace of mind during a stressful situation, and we were very impressed by how quickly they got the job done. I would highly recommend Poly B Plumbing Guys to anyone needing a Poly B replacement or any major plumbing work!

They replaced the manifold board and installed new manifolds with individual shut-offs, which proved incredibly helpful during my bathroom renovations. I also had them rework some piping to eliminate unsightly sagging tubes in the basement storage area.
I’m extremely pleased with the final result — not only the plumbing, but also the drywall and painting. Stephen was great to work with; professional, responsive, and committed to making sure everything was done right. I’m glad I chose POLY B and would recommend them without hesitation.
After showing the final results to my neighbours two have since signed up and completed their plumbing and two others are pending quotes
Thanks Poly B Guys

From the very first interaction with Stephen the owner, we felt we were in good hands! He gave us a quote & booked us a start date.
Adam arrived on the Monday morning & placed floor protection over our carpets & floors anywhere the crews would be working. Tuesday morning the plumbers, Sebastian & his partner Alex arrived. After bringing in their equipment, they shut the main water off around 7:30 a.m. & got to work! Boy do those 2 guys work hard WOW 😮. By 3:00 p.m. they had the water back on! Wednesday morning Terry the drywaller arrived and got to work putting back the drywall that the plumbers had to cut out in order to put in the new pipes. He is an amazing tradesman! 😊 You cannot tell where any repairs were done! He also did all the texturing of the ceilings where they needed access. His wife even came on the last day to help him & she also does most of the cleanup! They left my home very clean, I hardly had any dust! He has to put 3 coats of mud so it takes a few days but it was well worth the wait! Then the painters, Richard & his partner ( I am so sorry but I forgot your name) arrived the following Wednesday morning. They were done by noon & we now have our home back and worry free in regards to any potential breakage or leaks! In total, it only took 9 days, start to finish.
When we received our invoice, it was exactly the amount that Stephen quoted us, no hidden fees!
If you are looking to have your poly b piping replaced, do not hesitate to hire The Poly B Plumbing Guys! They treat your home like it was theirs!
Thanks again to the whole crew, you are ALL AMAZING and we couldn't be happier 😁

Ask Us Anything About Poly B Replacement
Poly B replacement in Central Alberta typically ranges from $6,000 to $15,000+, depending on home size, number of bathrooms, ceiling and wall access required, and whether drywall, texture, and paint restoration is included. A bungalow with an unfinished basement sits at the lower end, while a two-storey home with finished ceilings runs higher because of the additional drywall and paint work. We provide a fixed, on-site quote within 24–48 hours of inspection — no hourly billing, no surprise change orders. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.
Yes — and this is the #1 reason Central Alberta homeowners call us. Major Canadian insurers, including several operating in Alberta, are now refusing to renew, increasing premiums, or excluding water damage coverage on homes with active Poly B plumbing. Some carriers issue a renewal notice with a 30–90 day window to replace the system. If your insurer has flagged your Poly B, we can typically schedule, complete, and provide documented proof of full replacement within that window — including a Red Seal plumber's letter and final municipal inspection report you can submit directly to your insurance company.
Most full Poly B replacements in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Innisfail, and surrounding Central Alberta communities take 7–14 business days from start to finish. The plumbing portion itself is usually completed in 1–2 days (water is typically restored the same day it's shut off). The remainder of the timeline covers drywall patching, mudding, sanding, ceiling texture matching, primer, and two coats of paint. Homes stay liveable throughout — water is only off during active plumbing hours, and we contain dust with poly barriers and HEPA vacuums.
Yes. We regularly service Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Blackfalds, Innisfail, Penhold, Olds, Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, Ponoka, and surrounding rural acreages throughout Central Alberta. Acreage and well-water properties often need extra attention because Poly B fails faster under high mineral content and well-water chlorination patterns common in the region. There is no rural travel surcharge within our standard Central Alberta service zone.
We replace Poly B with PEX-A (cross-linked polyethylene), the current Canadian residential standard. PEX-A meets the National Plumbing Code of Canada and the Alberta Plumbing Code, carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty, resists chlorine and high-pressure failure (the two issues that destroy Poly B), and handles Alberta winter conditions without the freeze-burst risk of older materials. We pull all required permits with the municipality or county, and every job passes a final plumbing inspection before we close the walls.
No. Our Central Alberta clients stay in their homes for the entire project. Water is only shut off during active plumbing hours — usually 7:00 AM to mid-afternoon on day one — and is fully restored by evening. We seal off work areas with poly barriers, lay floor protection through every traffic path, and run HEPA-filtered vacuums to keep the rest of the home clean and usable. Kitchens, bedrooms, and at least one bathroom remain functional throughout the project in nearly every job we complete.o.
Yes — restoration is included in your quote, not an add-on. Our drywall and paint team patches every access cut, blends ceiling texture (knockdown, stipple, or smooth), colour-matches your existing paint, and finishes with primer plus two coats of premium latex. Most Central Alberta clients tell us they can't identify where the cuts were made once we leave. If you'd prefer full-wall repaints for a cleaner finished look, we offer that as an optional upgrade. Either way, your home is returned move-in clean — not contractor-clean.
